Victor  Campos Leal

Mexico City born Víctor CAMPOS LEAL launched his European career singing the Duca (Rigoletto), followed by Nemorino (L’Elisir d’amore) in autumn 2012 (both at the Opera of Breslau, Poland, under the baton of opera director Prof. Ewa MICHNIK), Basilio (Le Nozze di Figaro) under Tadeusz ZATHEY and Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni) with Bassem AKIKI on the conductor’s podium.
In 2013 Breslau saw his debut of Ismaele (Nabucco), again with Prof. Ewa MICHNIK conducting, followed by his Europe-debut of Conte d’Almaviva (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) at the Grand Theatre Wielki in Poznan. In Breslau he also was Alfredo (La Traviata) then Rodolfo (La Bohème) and was performing  in Rigoletto, Nabucco and L‘Elisir d’amore.
He started the 2013/14 season with his debut as Nadir (Les Pêcheurs de perles) in Breslau and gave a further world debut as Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor) . He appeared again in Rigoletto, Nabucco and L’Elisir d’amore and returned as Conte d’Almaviva in guest performances at the Grand Theatre Wielki in Poznan. In June 2014 he celebrated his  10th role debut in Breslau with Macduff (Macbeth), a megaproduction by stage director Bruno BERGER-GORSKI, on the pit Prof. Ewa MICHNIK.
In summer 2014 he toured as Conte d'Almaviva the first time through Italy’s Northeast ad throughout  Slovenia; mid July he was Duca in the Rigoletto premiere at the opera festival Regensburg, at St. Emmeram castle, in presence of H.H. Gloria Thurn und Taxis.

Victor Campos Leal had the pleasure to have had working sessions with vocal coaches Aldo DANIELI (Adi DANEV) in Trieste and Irina GAVRILOVICI in Vienna.

The early years: Victor Campos Leal began his formal training in Mexico City at the UNAM National School of Music (Escuela Nacional de Música). His performing opportunities there included Duca (Rigoletto), Beppe (Pagliacci), Paco (La Vida Breve), Belmonte (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) and Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor). He received additional training from Graciela ARAYA and Luis Giron MAY.
In 2005 he made his professional debut in Mexico City as Borsa (Rigoletto) at the Teatro de la Cuidad under the baton of Juan Carlos LOMONACO. He appeared in Madama Butterfly with the Juarez Symphony Orchestra, sang Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia) and Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) with the Company Arpegio “Opera for Children” and participated in Tosca under maestro Niksa BAREZA at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City.
With the Aquascalientes Symphony Orchestra he portrayed Don José in an open-air performance of Carmen, staged in a bullfight arena, and sang in Rossini’s Stabat Mater, both with Román REVUELTAS conducting.
Winner of the Francisco Araiza 2010 Competition, Victor Campos Leal received the “Best performance prize” at the 2010 edition of the Carlo Morelli National Competition.
He also gained extensive concert and oratorio experience in Mexico, including Mozart’s Requiem and Krönungsmesse (with the Orquesta de Cámara de la Marina) and Mass in C minor, Haydn’s Mass in Time of War, Puccini’s Messa di Gloria and Ramírez's Misa Criolla, the latter with the Sinaloa Orchestra under the baton of Gordon CAMPBELL.
