Anna Skryleva

Anna Skryleva was raised in Moscow. In 1999 she came to Germany where she initially gained experience as a musical assistant and répétiteur. From 2003 until 2007 she worked at the Cologne Opera where her activities included musical assistance for the "Ring" production under the baton of Jeffrey Tate (2004) and subsequently Markus Stenz. During that time she conducted several productions of the Opera Studio Cologne  with the Gürzenich Orchestra.From 2007 until 2012 Anna Skryleva was the musical assistant at the Hamburg State Opera of the Intendant and General Music Director Simone Young.  In 2009, at the New Year's Eve performance of "The Merry Widow", she shared the conductor's podium with Young. She subsequently conducted repertoire performances of "Il Turco in Italia" by Rossini and "Hansel and Gretel" by Humperdinck  on the main stage of the Hamburg State Opera  During the season 2012/2013 Anna Skryleva was principal resident conductor and Deputy Music Director at the State Theatre of Schleswig-Holstein where she was conducting "Der Freischütz" by C.M. von Weber and "La Bohème" by Puccini. She  successfully conducted concerts at the opening of the season  and the new productions of "My Fair Lady" by Loewe, "The Nutcracker" by Tchaikovsky, "Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny" by Weill and "Cinderella" by Prokofiev. In January 2013 the conductor presented the experimental programme "Masquerade" in the 4th symphony concert (including works by Stravinsky, Britten, Shchedrin) After successfully conducting "Salome" by R. Strauss, Anna Skryleva became a member of the ensemble at the State Theatre Darmstadt where she worked as principal resident conductor and Deputy Music Director from 2013 until 2015. Among her acclaimed performances were the symphony concert with works by Messiaen, Francaix and Berlioz, the performances of "La Traviata" by Verdi, "Tristan and Isolde" by Wagner, "Il Trittico" by Puccini, "Hansel and Gretel" by Humperdinck and "Cinderella" by Prokofiev.   In June 2015 her guest performance of "Madame Butterfly" by Puccini took place at the  State Theatre Wiesbaden; her first opera premiere in Darmstadt, "Otello", was a great musical success.

At the New Year's Concert on January 1, 2014 Skryleva presented to her audience an individually compiled programme that combined  music, lighting and technical effects. In the arts section of the "Main Echo" Anna Skryleva was named "Person of the Year 2013".                                                                                                          
In November 2015 six female conductors from all over the world were selected to participate in the renowned "Institute for Women Conductors"programme at the Dallas Opera. Anna Skryleva was one of them. The great success of The final concert led to her appearence   as a guest conductor at the Dallas Opera for a Verdi concert during the  season 2016/2017.

On the concert stage she was conducting the South German Philharmonic Constance (concerts in Konstanz, Friedrichshafen, Zurich Tonhalle et al.) and the OFUNAM Philharmonic Orchestra of UNAM (Mexico), to name just a few  throughout the 2015/16 season.

In June 2014 Anna Skryleva founded the international Peace Initiative CLASSIC FOR PEACE which quickly met with wide support by the public and by high-ranking politicians of the German State Hesse (including the State Prime Minister Volker Bouffier and the Hessian Minister of Science and Arts Boris Rhein, who assumed the patronage for the project).
With this initiative, the versatile musician realises multicultural projects to widen the understanding between nations through music.
